Transport Manager

Our client a leading logistics company is looking for a Transport Manager to join their team in Shannon.

Main Duties and Responsibilities as a Transport Manager:

  • Coordinate with business partners, offices, and subcontractors to resolve operational issues and manage collection and distribution.
  • Oversee daily linehaul trailer requirements and resolve POD issues.
  • Handle administration, KPI reporting, and contract management to enhance profitability.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to improve efficiency and represent the depot in operational meetings.

Staff Management:

  • Ensure staff compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Develop strategic objectives to enhance motivation and job satisfaction among direct reports.
  • Establish individual development plans and career growth targets through the appraisal system.
  • Provide relevant and adequate training opportunities to support staff performance and goal achievement.

Key Skills:

  • Leadership and Management: Staff supervision, performance appraisals, objective setting, and team collaboration.
  • Operational Expertise: Transport planning, KPI reporting, and commercial skills.
  • Problem Solving and Organisation: Decision making, adaptability, and working under pressure.
  • Customer and Staff Relations: Building strong relationships and fostering effective communication.
  • Technical and Compliance Skills: IT knowledge for accrual control, Health & Safety, and administrative proficiency.

Additional Requirements as a Transport Manager:

  • Perform additional duties as required, subject to experience and training.
  • Comply with company policies, including Health & Safety, Employment, Quality, and Environmental standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company affairs during and after employment.
  • Apply and promote the Depot’s Business Plan in all development efforts.
  • Participate actively in the Account Management Programme.
