Finance Business Partner

Our client, a leading global logistics and freight forwarding organisation, is seeking an ambitious and technically strong Finance Business Partner to join its growing Irish finance team.

This is a newly created position following a recent restructure and represents an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to partner with senior stakeholders, influence business performance, and develop their career within a global organisation.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Financial Controller and wider business functions, supporting financial reporting, controls, forecasting, treasury management, and commercial analysis while acting as a key link between the Irish operation and international finance teams.

Team Structure

The Finance team is led by the Financial Controller, who sits on the Ireland Senior Management Team and reports directly to the UK Finance Director.

In addition, the role will work closely with the Shared Service Finance teams located internationally, including the AP and GL teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting activities completed by the AP and GL teams within the shared service centre.
  • Provide support and guidance to overseas finance colleagues, resolving queries and ensuring best practice is followed.
  • Review monthly financial results and ensure accurate reporting to the Financial Controller.
  • Participate in month-end close activities and daily month-end review meetings.
  • Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and company policies.
  • Partner closely with Operations, Sales, and senior management to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
  • Analyse financial and operational performance, identifying trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Prepare variance analysis against budget, prior month, and prior year results.
  • Translate financial data into meaningful commercial recommendations.
  • Manage balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.
  • Oversee treasury activities, including cash flow and currency management.
  • Support VAT, corporation tax, and payroll tax compliance requirements.
  • Liaise with external tax advisors when required.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting cycles.
  • Assist in developing forecasts aligned to business objectives and growth plans.
  • Support external audit activities and coordinate responses to audit queries.
  • Develop KPI reporting and financial models to support business initiatives.
  • Participate in finance improvement projects and ad hoc business initiatives.
  • Support ongoing enhancement of processes and controls across the finance function.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified (preferred).
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • SAP experience would be highly advantageous.

Experience

  • Previous experience within a Finance Business Partner, Financial Accountant, Management Accountant, or similar role.
  • Experience working in a multinational environment.
  • Exposure to shared services operations and international finance teams.
  • Logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative team.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
