CAD & CNC Manufacturing Specialist

We are partnering with an innovative specialist engineering organisation that is expanding its design and machining capability. As part of this growth, we are seeking a handson, technically strong CAD & CNC Manufacturing Specialist to join their engineering division.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both digital design and practical workshop environmentstranslating concepts into accurate CAD models and highquality machined components. You will have significant ownership over your work and the opportunity to help shape future systems, workflows, and equipment capabilities.

The Role

1. CAD Design & Digital Modelling

  • Create accurate CAD models based on measurements, drawings, and specifications.
  • Produce manufacturingready designs, templates, and technical drawings.
  • Generate productionready files for CNC machining and maintain strong revision control.

2. CNC Machining & Router Operation

  • Generate CNC toolpaths and machining programs from CAD models.
  • Set up cutting parameters, tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies.
  • Operate CNC routers to produce highquality components across plastics, composites, and aluminium.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and optimise material usage and finish quality.

3. Fabrication & Component Development

  • Fabricate custom components to specification.
  • Verify dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to refine and improve manufacturability.

4. Additive Manufacturing / Prototyping

  • Support prototype development through 3D printing.
  • Prepare models, manage print setups, and perform basic printer maintenance.

5. Workflow Coordination & Future Department Development

  • Help coordinate machining and fabrication workloads.
  • Contribute to improving tooling strategies, workflows, and production efficiency.
  • Following an initial period, support the evolution of the department into a scalable, structured capabilityincluding process development, equipment planning, and mentoring others.

About You

Essential

  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar).
  • Strong experience creating CNC toolpaths and operating CNC routers or similar equipment.
  • Solid understanding of machining, fabrication, and dimensional measurement.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • High attention to detail and a practical, problemsolving mindset.

Desirable

  • Experience in automotive, vehicle conversion, or custom fabrication.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming optimisation.
  • Experience with 3D printing.
  • Understanding of workflow planning or lean manufacturing principles.
