CNC Operator – Fabrication
Location: Dublin 17
Salary: €32,000-€38,000 + Overtime & Bonus
Hours: Mon–Thu 07:00–16:30 | Fri 07:00–13:30
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
We are partnering with a leading engineering and vehicle solutions provider based in Dublin 17, currently seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join their growing fabrication department.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on technical environment and wants to develop into a future team lead. The primary focus is CNC router operation and component fabrication, with opportunities to expand into CAD, 3D design, and additive manufacturing over time.
Role Overview
As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC routing machinery to produce high‑quality custom components for engineering projects. You will also support fabrication tasks, quality checking, and workflow coordination within a modern, well‑equipped workshop.
This position offers structured progression into a Department Lead role following a period of training and integration.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Router Operation – Core Duty
- Program, set up, and operate CNC routers for precision cutting and machining.
- Generate and optimise toolpaths using CAD/CAM software.
- Select materials, tooling, and cutting parameters to meet job specifications.
- Perform routine machine checks and preventative maintenance.
- Ensure safe, efficient, and tidy workshop operations.
Fabrication & Quality Control
- Fabricate components according to engineering drawings and dimensional tolerances.
- Conduct part inspections and maintain quality documentation.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and contribute to process improvements.
Workflow Support
- Prioritise tasks based on project deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, material usage, and workflow.
Desirable (Not Essential) Skills
These are advantageous but training will be provided:
- Experience with CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.)
- Knowledge of 3D printing/additive manufacturing
- Comfort with digital modelling or template creation
- Familiarity with vehicle engineering or custom fabrication
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Proven experience operating CNC routers or similar CNC machinery
- Strong understanding of machining processes and measurement tools
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
- High attention to detail and mechanical aptitude
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills
- Practical, hands‑on approach
Desirable
- CAD or digital design experience
- Exposure to 3D printing
- Experience in fabrication or automotive-related environments
- Previous coordination or team‑lead exposure
- Familiarity with lean principles or continuous improvement
