About the Role:
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Department Manager (Alcohol) to join their team at Belfast International Airport. This role involves supporting the General Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the alcohol department within a duty-free store. The store is currently undergoing significant redevelopment, with the new store set to open in March 2025. During this period, you will receive comprehensive training on systems and processes and assist in recruiting a growing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the General Manager in achieving sales and profit targets.
- Manage a team of Supervisors, ensuring they are motivated, knowledgeable, and equipped to manage their individual teams.
- Lead and develop the team to deliver excellent customer service.
- Ensure the department is well-maintained, visually appealing, and stocked according to merchandising guidelines.
- Conduct bi-annual stocktakes and manage inventory control to reduce loss.
- Handle staffing, including scheduling, shift management, and training of new employees.
- Address customer complaints and resolve issues efficiently.
- Monitor and report on store performance and staff productivity.
- Support HR management within the store.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety, security, and emergency systems.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a retail management or supervisory role.
- Previous experience in alcohol sales would be a distinct advantage.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Proven ability to drive sales and meet performance targets.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in stock management and retail operations.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
