Freight Operations Supervisor – North Co. Dublin
Permanent | Full-Time | Mon–Fri, 9:00–5:30
Our client, a leading international logistics provider, is seeking an experienced Freight Operations Supervisor to oversee their Air & Ocean Import/Export function. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and people‑focused leader to step into a key operational role within a growing organisation.
⭐ The Role
As Freight Operations Supervisor, you will manage the day‑to‑day performance of the Air/Ocean team, ensuring operational excellence, strong internal communication, and adherence to industry and company standards. You‘ll champion best practice, drive efficiencies, and support a high‑performing team environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Operational Leadership
- Supervise daily Air and Sea freight operations.
- Lead, motivate, and support the import/export team.
- Identify process improvements and implement efficiencies.
- Maintain and update SOPs to ensure full team compliance.
- Support KPI reviews, performance discussions, and objective setting.
- Uphold company policies around quality, safety, environment, and compliance.
Freight Operations
- Coordinate Air & Ocean Import/Export shipments.
- Oversee customs handling through in‑house brokerage.
- Arrange transport; liaise with airline handlers and shipping line agents.
- Ensure accurate milestone updates and data integrity within systems.
- Manage customer and accounts queries promptly and professionally.
- Oversee billing accuracy across all shipments.
- Negotiate rates and maintain strong relationships with partners and clients.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- 3–5 years‘ freight forwarding experience (Air & Ocean).
- Dangerous Goods handling experience.
- Proven supervisory or team lead background with strong people‑engagement skills.
- Excellent knowledge of customs procedures and international shipping regulations.
- Systems experience (Cargowise / Azyra).
- Excellent communication, time management, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and strong documentation accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Desirable
- Experience with Life Science or temperature‑controlled cargo.
- Knowledge of AEO compliance and CAPA processes.
- Formal logistics or supply chain qualifications.
